From π…πŒ°πŒΉπŒ»πŒ° (waila) +‎ *πŒΌπŒ΄π‚πŒ΄πŒΉ (*mΔ“rei). The latter derives from Proto-Germanic *mΔ“rΔ―Μ„. The entire compound may be a calque of Ancient Greek Ρὐφημία (euphΔ“mΓ­a), the word found in the Greek passages corresponding to where this Gothic word is found.
