πΏπ½ππΉπ»π°πΌπ°π»ππΊπ
Appearance
Gothic
[edit]Etymology
[edit]The first element is *πΏπ½ππΉπ»π (*untils, βunfittingβ), from πΏπ½- (un-) + *ππΉπ»π (*tils) (compare its attested antonym π²π°ππΉπ»π (gatils)). The second element is *πΌπ°π»ππΊπ (*malsks), a reflex of Proto-Germanic *malskaz (βhaughtyβ). Viewed in terms of it constituent elements, the compound can thus be analysed as having a literal meaning of "unsuitably haughty".
