[edit]Etymology
[edit]From πΏπ½- (un-) + *π·πΏπ½ππ»π°π²π (*hunslags, βpertaining to sacrifice; conciliatory?β), from π·πΏπ½ππ» (hunsl, βsacrifice, offeringβ) + -π°π²π (-ags). Possible calque of Ancient Greek αΌΟΟΞΏΞ½Ξ΄ΞΏΟ (Γ‘spondos), which this word translates and which was derived similarly, linking truce and conciliation to religious offerings.
