Etymology

[edit]

From 𐌻𐌹𐌿𐌲𐌽 (liugn, β€œlie”) +‎ -π…πŒ°πŒΏπ‚πŒ³πƒ (-waurds, β€œ-speaking, -telling”) (see π…πŒ°πŒΏπ‚πŒ³ (waurd)), a calque of Ancient Greek ΟˆΞ΅Ο…Ξ΄ΞΏΞ»ΟŒΞ³ΞΏΟ‚ (pseudolΓ³gos). While adjectival in form (and while the suffix -waurds generally produces adjectives), this word is only attested in substantivized form.
