Etymology

[edit]

From πŒ»πŒ΄πŒΊπŒ΄πŒΉπƒ (lΔ“keis, β€œphysician”) +‎ -πŒΉπŒ½πŒ°πƒπƒπŒΏπƒ (-inassus). The word is only attested as the genitive singular πŒ»πŒ΄πŒΉπŒΊπŒΉπŒ½πŒ°πƒπƒπŒ°πŒΏπƒ (leikinassaus) (with a diphthong ei instead of long Δ“ in the first syllable), but that is assumed to have been a spelling variant based on its apparent etymology.
