Faliscan

[edit]

Etymology

[edit]

Possibly an inflected form of Faliscan *πŒπŒπŒ“πŒƒπŒ (*pordo), itself from πŒπŒπŒ“- (por-, β€œfor”) +‎ *πŒƒπŒ (*do, β€œI give”). See πŒƒπŒ„πŒƒπŒ„πŒ• (dedet). May have originated as a reduplicative that lost its medial syllable. Bakkum argues that it is more likely an aorist.

Verb
