트력제
Appearance
Korean
[edit]Etymology
[edit]Blend of 트럼프 (Teureompeu, “Trump”) + 만력제(萬曆帝) (Mallyeokje, “Wanli Emperor”, sixteenth-century Chinese ruler).
Primarily coined because Trump's rapprochement efforts with North Korea were positively compared to the emperor's extensive mobilization of Chinese forces to support Korea during an immense Japanese invasion, but for some people, it may also sarcastically allude to the Wanli emperor's notorious incompetence in governing his own country.
Pronunciation
[edit]- (SK Standard/Seoul) IPA(key): [tʰɯɾjʌ̹k̚t͡ɕ͈e̞]
- Phonetic hangul: [트력쩨]
