[edit]First attested in the Bullyu dugongbu si eonhae (分類杜工部詩諺解 / 분류두공부시언해), 1481, as Middle Korean 춋〮블〮 (Yale: chyós.púl).
Equivalent to 초 (cho) + ㅅ (-s-) + 불 (bul).
From 촉(燭) (chok, “candle”) + 불 (bul, “fire”).
