Etymology

First attested as Early Modern Korean 즘으시다 (cumusita) in the “Bukchan'ga” (北竄歌 / 북찬가), 22, 1755. Also attested as Early Modern Korean ᄌᆞ므시다 (comusita) in the Bingbingdyeon (聘聘傳 / 빙빙뎐), 1:54a, unknown. Perhaps from ᄌᆞᆷ〮- (cóm-, to sink) +‎ -ᄋᆞ시〮- (-òsí-, honorific suffix).
