[edit]First attested in the Eonhae duchang jibyo (諺解痘瘡集要 / 언해두창집요), 1608, as Early Modern Korean 암내 (Yale: amnay).
A compound of 암 (am) + 내 (nae).

- Phonetic hangul: [암(ː)내/암(ː)네]
