[edit]Sino-Korean word from 升學宴, from 升學 (“advancing to the next grade”) + 宴 (“feast”).
Presumably an orthographic borrowing from Chinese 升學宴/升学宴 (shēngxuéyàn), given exclusive use by Koreans in China.
