Inherited from Late Old Korean 聚笠 (*sywùlwúp), attested in the Jilin leishi.[1]

Usage notes

This term is never used in the Middle Korean corpus and is only ever mentioned, once in the early 15c. (Ming-era) Chinese–Korean wordbook Chaoxian guan yi yu (朝鮮館譯語) as 速路 (*sywùlwúp)[2] and once in the Hangul source quoted above.

As such, it may be that by the 15th century, this term had already been displaced by the Sino-Korean 우〮산〮 (wúsán).
