Korean
[edit]Etymology
[edit]From 수리 (suri, “eagle”) + ㅅ (-s-, genitive marker) + 날 (nal, “day”). Also attested in the Gugeupganibang eonhae (救急簡易方諺解 / 구급간이방언해), 1489, as Middle Korean 수릿〮날 (Yale: swulí-s-nal).
Another theory is 수레 (sure, “wheel”) + ㅅ (-s-, genitive marker) + 날 (nal, “day”).
