비단길
Appearance
Korean
[edit]Etymology
[edit]From 비단(緋緞) (bidan, “silk fabric”) + ㅅ (-s-, genitive interfix; omitted from the spelling, but this causes the tense phonation of the following consonant) + 길 (gil, “road”).
Pronunciation
[edit]- (SK Standard/Seoul) IPA(key): [ˈpi(ː)da̠nk͈iɭ]
- Phonetic hangul: [비(ː)단낄]
- Though still prescribed in Standard Korean, most speakers in both Koreas no longer distinguish vowel length.
