[edit]From First attested in the Yongbi eocheon'ga (龍飛御天歌 / 용비어천가), 1447, as Middle Korean 보〯ᄇᆡ〮 (Yale: pwǒpóy). Borrowed from Chinese 寶貝 / 宝贝 (bǎobèi).

- Phonetic hangul: [보(ː)배/보(ː)베]
