맘속
Appearance
Korean
[edit]Etymology
[edit]From 맘 (mam, “mind”, contraction of 마음 (ma'eum)) + ㅅ (-s-, genitive interfix; omitted from the spelling, but this causes the tense phonation of the following consonant) + 속 (sok, “inside, the inside”).
Pronunciation
[edit]- (SK Standard/Seoul) IPA(key): [ˈma̠(ː)ms͈o̞k̚]
- Phonetic hangul: [맘(ː)쏙]
- Though still prescribed in Standard Korean, most speakers in both Koreas no longer distinguish vowel length.
