[edit]Sino-Korean word from 同性婚.
Noun
[edit]동성혼 • (dongseonghon) (hanja 同性婚)
Etymology 2
[edit]Sino-Korean word from 同姓婚.
Noun
[edit]동성혼 • (dongseonghon) (hanja 同姓婚)
- marriage between two people with the same surname; this was considered nearly incestuous in Joseon Korea (1392—1910), even if the surnames were only coincidentally the same, and was not fully legalized until 2005
Usage notes
[edit]The same-surname marriage sense was traditionally much more common, as same-sex marriage was not a social issue in Korea until relatively recently, but it has now been largely superseded by the same-sex marriage sense.
