[edit]From the board game of Yut. 도 (do, “one-space advance on the board”) + 찐 (jjin, southern dialectal form of 긴 (gin, “number of spaces advanced in one move”)) + 개 (gae, “two-space advance on the board”) + 찐 (jjin, “id.”).
There is not much of a difference between advancing one space or two spaces on the board.

Usage notes
[edit]- Since 찐 (jjin) is a southern dialectal form with palatalization of [ki], 도긴개긴 (dogin'gaegin) is the standard form. However, 도찐개찐 (dojjin'gaejjin) is far more commonly used in practice.
