From the board game of Yut. (do, one-space advance on the board) +‎ (jjin, southern dialectal form of (gin, number of spaces advanced in one move)) +‎ (gae, two-space advance on the board) +‎ (jjin, id.).

There is not much of a difference between advancing one space or two spaces on the board.

  • Since (jjin) is a southern dialectal form with palatalization of [ki], 도긴개긴 (dogin'gaegin) is the standard form. However, 도찐개찐 (dojjin'gaejjin) is far more commonly used in practice.
