뉴 ←→ 늬

Etymology

[edit]

First attested in the Sinjeung yuhap (新增類合 / 신증유합), 1576, as Middle Korean  (Yale: nwup). The underlying form was probably *눞 *nwuph, as Korean coda consonant -ph surfaces as -p in isolation. However, there is no direct evidence for this because the Middle Korean orthography transcribed surface realizations only.
