Etymology

First attested in the 육조단경, 1496, as Middle Korean 내로라 ᄒᆞ다. Ultimately from the Middle Korean phrase 내로라 (naylwola, It is I) + quoting verb ᄒᆞ다 (hota, to say): "to say 'It is I!'".
