From Ottoman Turkish نابلس (Nablus) and Arabic نَابُلُس (Nābulus), from Byzantine Greek Νεάπολις (Neápolis), from Ancient Greek νέᾱ́ (néā́, new) + πόλῐς (pólis, city, city-state). Doublet of 나폴리 (Napolli).
