깐부
Appearance
Korean
[edit]Etymology
[edit]Unknown, online hypotheses include:
- Corrupted from English combo.
- Abbreviation and corruption of Sino-Korean idiom 관포지교(管鮑之交) (gwanpojigyo, “intimate friendship”).
- Corrupted from Japanese 株 (kabu), as in 株仲間 (kabunakama, “business partner, colleague”). The insertion of ㄴ (n) may be due to historical Japanese voiced obstruent prenasalization.
Pronunciation
[edit]- (SK Standard/Seoul) IPA(key): [k͈a̠nbu]
- Phonetic hangul: [깐부]
