[edit]Sino-Korean word from 간선(幹線) (ganseon, “main line”) + 도로(道路) (doro, “road”). Orthographic borrowing from Japanese 幹線道路 (kansendōro).

- Phonetic hangul: [간선 도(ː)로]
- Though still prescribed in Standard Korean, most speakers in both Koreas no longer distinguish vowel length.
