  1. (phonetics, obsolete) A form of the breve diacritic when not carried by a vowel.
    E.g. The short vowel a꭛ is equivalent to ă, just as the long vowel a꞉ is equivalent to ā, and the nasal vowel a∼ is equivalent to ã.
