U+AB35, ꬵ
LATIN SMALL LETTER LENIS F

[U+AB34]
Latin Extended-E
[U+AB36]
Lenis and fortis f in italic typeface

Translingual

[edit]

Design

[edit]

Unlike regular (fortis) f, in italic typeface, lenis does not acquire a tail.

Symbol

[edit]

  1. (Teuthonista) The lenis analogue of ⟨f⟩ (IPA [v̥]).

Usage notes

[edit]

Not all sources use this symbol; some restrict themselves to diacritics on ⟨v⟩ and ⟨f ⟩. For those who do use it, the series may be ⟨v ꬵ φ f ⟩ (IPA [v v̥ f̬ f]).

A similar distinction is made between tailless and normal ſ.
