Inherited from Old Javanese baṅśa, waṅśa, from Sanskrit वंश (vaṃśá, offspring, lineage), from Proto-Indo-Iranian *wanćás (ceiling beam). Doublet of ꦲꦁꦱ (angsa) and ꦮꦁꦱ (wangsa).
