Etymology
[edit]Compound of 風俗 (fūzoku, “sex work”) + 嬢 (jō, “young lady”).
Noun
[edit]- a woman who works in the sex industry, a woman sex worker
- 2001, Kureichi Matsuzawa, Fūzoku Zemināru [Sex industry seminar], →OCLC, page 9:
- 聞いたところによると、風俗嬢との兼業が増えたため、風俗仕事をやったことがバレると、すぐにクビというキャバクラもあるそうですな(クビになった子が言っていた)。
- Kīta tokoro ni yoru to, fūzokujō to no kengyō ga fueta tame, fūzoku shigoto o yatta koto ga bareru to, sugu ni kubi to iu kyabakura mo aru sō desu na (kubi ni natta ko ga itte ita).
- From what I have heard, since increasing numbers moonlight as sex workers, if it is exposed that they have done sex work, cabaret hostesses have been fired on the spot (according to people who have been fired).
