[edit]Etymology
[edit]Compound of 雪 (yuki, “snow”) + 吊り (tsuri, “hanging, slinging”), the 連用形 (ren'yōkei, “stem or continuative form”) of the verb 吊る (tsuru, “to hang something, to suspend something”).[1][2][3] The tsuri changes to zuri as an instance of rendaku (連濁).
Occasionally also encountered without rendaku, as yukitsuri.
