- 1927, Akutagawa Ryūnosuke, 河童 [Kappa]:
- その又雌の河童と云ふのは亭主を殺すつもりでゐたのです。何しろ亭主は道楽者でしたからね。
- Sono mata mesu no kappa to iu no wa teishu o korosu tsumori de ita no desu. Nani shiro teishu wa dōrakumono deshita kara ne.
- And so it turned out that said female kappa was planning on murdering her husband. It's no wonder; her husband was quite the debauchee.
- その又雌の河童と云ふのは亭主を殺すつもりでゐたのです。何しろ亭主は道楽者でしたからね。
