Etymology
[edit]/rinwe/ → /rinɰe/ → /rinːe/
From Middle Chinese 輪迴 (MC lwin hwoj, literally “wheel + revolve”), itself a translation of Sanskrit संसार (saṃsāra, literally “passing, wandering”).[1][2][3][4][5]
The e reading for 廻 changes to ne as an instance of renjō (連声). [2][4]
