Etymology
[edit]Compound of 車 (kuruma, “vehicle”) + 止め (tome, 連用形 (ren'yōkei, “stem or continuative form”) of the verb 止める (tomeru, “stop”).). The tome changes to dome as an instance of rendaku (連濁).
