[edit]From 蚊帳 (kaya, “mosquito net”, jukujikun (熟字訓)) + 吊り (tsuri, stem of 吊る (tsuru, “to hang”)) + 草 (kusa, “grass”), from the phrase 蚊帳を吊る (kaya o tsuru, “to hang a mosquito net”), from a children's game using the stems of this grass.
