From Arabic نَابُلُس (Nābulus), from Byzantine Greek Νεάπολις (Neápolis), from Ancient Greek νέᾱ́ (néā́, new) + πόλῐς (pólĭs, city, city-state). Doublet of 那不勒斯 (Nàbùlèsī) and 拿坡里 (Nápōlǐ).
