Literally: “white bandits”.

Etymology

[edit]

Its use as a reference to the Kuomintang stems from a comparison of the Kuomintang to the White movement in Russia during the Russian Civil War, as well as white being one of the main colours of the Kuomintang. It also connects to the term white terror, which refers to coordinated violence carried out against socialists or communists, by nationalist or fascist organisations.
