Etymology
[edit]From 独活 (udo, “Japanese spikenard”) + の (no, possessive particle) + 大木 (taiboku, “large tree”), because the stem of a Japanese spikenard grows high, but then it becomes inedible, and the stem is soft.
Noun
[edit]独活の大木 • (udo no taiboku)
