Usage notes

[edit]

Newer editions of the Chinese Union Version have changed the translation from 流便 (Liúbiàn) to 呂便 / 吕便 (Lǚbiàn) due to the possible vulgar connotation of the former, which could be interpreted literally as (liú, to flow) + 便 (biàn, human waste), i.e. “to have diarrhea”.[1]
