Etymology

Compound of (yo, night) +‎ (saki, blooming, the 連用形 (ren'yōkei, continuative or stem form) of verb 咲く (saku, to bloom)) +‎ 睡蓮 (suiren, water lily). The saki changes to zaki as an instance of rendaku (連濁).
