[edit]Compound of 夏 (natsu, “summer”) + ばて (bate, “extreme tiredness, exhaustion”, the 連用形 (ren'yōkei, “continuative or stem form”) of verb ばてる (bateru, “to become exhausted, tired out, pooped”)).[1][2][3][4]
