Etymology

A less apt modification of 北霍魯遜／北霍鲁逊 (Běihuòlǔxùn), from 北 (běi), translating Mongolian ᠬᠣᠶᠢᠳᠤ (qoyidu, “north”), and a phonetic transcription of Mongolian ᠬᠤᠯᠤᠰᠤᠨ (qulusun, “reed”), from their former presence in the area. The modification is presumably under the influence of the larger nearby 達布遜／达布逊 (Dábùxùn), whose name transcribed a separate Mongolian name.
