Usage notes
[edit]Stylized tejime clapping is sometimes used to signal the ending of a fortunate event, such as a celebration or a successful business negotiation. One common rhythmic pattern is ipponjime, consisting of three claps, a short pause, three claps, a pause, three more claps, another pause, and one final clap. The longer sanbonjime repeats the ipponjime pattern three times: 3-3-3-1, 3-3-3-1, 3-3-3-1, with short pauses between groups of claps and a slightly longer pause after each single clap.
