In North Korea, ㅃ is called 된비읍 (doenbieup), "strong ㅂ (bieup)". In South Korea, it is called 쌍비읍 (ssangbieup), "doubled ㅂ (bieup)".
ㅃ is pronounced as a bilabialplosive with tensephonation (IPA: [p͈] or [b̬]), i.e. similar to the English p, but with a stiff tongue and glottal opening.
