Etymology
[edit]Wasei eigo (和製英語; pseudo-anglicism), derived from macaroni + western, マカロニ (makaroni, “macaroni”, in reference to things Italian) + ウエスタン (uesutan, “western (film genre)”).[1][2][3] Compare the formation of English spaghetti western.
