Japanese
[edit]Etymology
[edit]Borrowed from English news.[1][2][3][4] The English word-final voiced sound /z/ is sometimes transcribed as if it was voiceless, as ス (su), rather than as ズ (zu), especially if it represents English -s (plural suffix). Compare ゼット (zetto, “zed”). Also compare Korean 스 (seu) which is used along with 즈 (jeu).
