[edit]A phrase consisted by で (de, locative particle) + やんす (yansu, auxiliary verb indicating politeness); considered to be changed from であります (dearimasu).

- c. 1708, Chikamatsu Monzaemon, Keisei Hangonkō (傾城反魂香):
- 先の相手がつよいか、身の取廻しのわるさか知らんでやんす
- Saki no aite ga tsuyoi ka, mi no torimawashi no warusa ka shiran de yansu
- I don't know if the opponent is stronger or it's badness of an action of own body.
