     So she made the millet, the panic, the wheat, and the beans the seed for the dry fields, and the rice she made the seed for the water-fields.

This word is not phonetically attested proper in Old Japanese; it is attested to glosses in the Nihon Shoki. This reading may be further strengthened by the Wamyō Rujishō of 934, which records the readings of 水田種子 as 太奈都毛乃 (tana tu mono₂), and 陸田種子 as 波多介豆毛乃.
