From Proto-Ryukyuan *soroe; cognate with Yonaguni すり (suri, “plate”).

Historically recorded in the Haydong Jegukki as 쉬릐 (Yale: suy luy).

     Osoroi: a (noble) dish plate; also called sorei.

     Note: soroi may be an allophone of sorei.
