Etymology
[edit]Compound of お (o, honorific prefix) + 好み (konomi, “preference”, the 連用形 (ren'yōkei, “continuative or stem form”) of verb 好む konomu, “to like, to prefer”) + 焼き (yaki, “grilling, frying, roasting”, the 連用形 (ren'yōkei, “continuative or stem form”) of verb 焼く yaku, “to grill, to fry, to roast”).[1][2][3][4] Literally “grilling to your liking”.
