Egyptian onion

From Demotic ⁠⁠⁠ (mḏl, “onion”), from a Semitic language. Compare Hebrew בָּצָל (bāṣāl), Arabic بَصَل (baṣal), and Aramaic בּוּצְלָא (būṣlā). Ultimately from Proto-West Semitic *baṣal- (“onion”).
