[edit]Borrowed from Bactrian *Huxšaθra- (literally “Of good reign”),[1] composed of *hu- (“good”) + *xšaθra- (“reign, kingdom”). Doublet of Ὀξυάθρης (Oxuáthrēs), which is from Old Persian.
