Etymology
[edit]Connection with Latin sentīna (“bilgewater”) is impossible in Indo-European terms, as *sm̥- would give ἁ- (ha-) and not ἁν- (han-). Has been compared with Hittite [script needed] (ḫan-, “to draw water”), although it requires an unusual suffix -τλος (-tlos).
